Those who struggle with terminal illness and their families receive help at the Hospice of Santa Barbara. Numerous of its counseling services address children who are faced with the death of a family member. One in 20 kids loses a loved one before becoming an adult, while 20 percent of them struggle with a death in the family before turning 18. The programs at Hospice of Santa Barbara help those in grief deal with depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Kenny Slaught notes.
