About 100 years ago, the Spanish Colonial Revival movement was started by architect George Washington Smith. Smith became a successful businessman after leaving Harvard, and later on relocated to Santa Barbara. Although he had planned to retire, the success of his designs made him change his mind. Smith used materials from Spain, and combined old styles with new ones. Nowadays, the complexity of his designs is well known and he served as an influence for numerous artists. Kenny Slaught recognizes the attention to detail needed to create such structures.
